“If there is anything I am wholeheartedly dedicated to, it is health and fitness.” – E. Rios
What is your Fitness Purpose? What are you trying to achieve through fitness? Are you trying to lose weight? Are you trying to get stronger? Are you trying to get faster? Are you trying to become more athletic?
Maybe your purpose is to get a slim body like a TV Celebrity or maybe you want to develop your soccer skills like an international soccer (futbol) superstar. Maybe you are trying to be more social through fitness (joining a sports/exercise club). Maybe you want to relieve stress through fitness.
Whatever it is that you want to achieve through fitness, it is important to know your Fitness Purpose so that you have a chief aim, a goal, something to aim for and something that will motivate you for pursuing your Fitness Purpose.
Having a Fitness Purpose is very important because it will give you a better direction of where you want to go with fitness and how far you want to take it instead of just saying, “ok today I will go to the gym and just exercise.” You see, this statement is too vague, you need to be specific about what you want to accomplish through fitness. The more specific you are about your Fitness Purpose, the more likely you will be willing to move forward and take action with your achieving your Fitness Purpose.
If you are not sure how to develop a Fitness Purpose simply write down your thoughts on fitness. Write down what you think fitness means to you. If you think fitness means being strong, write it down. If you think fitness means being lean, write it down. If you think fitness is about having fun in a group setting, then write it down.
The beauty of fitness is that fitness encompasses many paths to choose from (ex. sports, bodybuilding, aerobics) and can be a bit overwhelming if you are not sure what path to take. But once you decide what your Fitness Purpose is (what you want to achieve through fitness), you will feel more confident about yourself and the goals you plan to accomplish.
