But sometimes being away from home and your regular routines can throw eating habits for a loop.
Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator
Originally from south Texas, Martha Cortez-McHenry is a bilingual, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator serving both the English and Spanish speaking communities. McHenry’s experience ranges from starting a diabetes education program in a community clinic to providing medical nutrition therapy to senior executives of major US corporations through her work at the Cooper Clinic. This has allowed Martha to hone communication and delivery skills that target individuals across the full socio-economic and chronic disease spectrum.
Through her work with food and beverage industries such as companies like Coca-Cola, as well as private-public partnerships, McHenry has been able to effectively communicate the benefits of products and programs to both the English and Spanish speaking consumer through radio, television and print.
McHenry has served her professional association through various board positions including 2009-2010 President of the Dallas Dietetic Association. She is also a member of the Texas Dietetic Association and the American Dietetic Association (ADA). She currently serves as an ADA mentor for LAHIDAN, Latinos and Hispanics in Dietetics and Nutrition and is a member of ADA’s Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Weight Management Dietetic Practice Groups.
Today, McHenry is a Principal and Vice President of Operations at Professional Nutrition Therapists (PNT), a national network of dietitians delivering nutrition solutions to individuals, groups and corporations. She received her nutrition degree from UT-Southwestern Medical Center in 2005.
