The beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month creates the opportunity to reflect on the history and experiences of Hispanic and Latino Coloradans. Colorado has a rich Hispanic heritage with early settlers from Spain and Mexico establishing strong roots and thriving communities across the state in our early history.

Gretchen has spent her career working to improve the health care system. She works with state and community leaders to identify their shared aspirations for health and move toward these goals. A skilled leader and facilitator, Gretchen has experience as a both a consultant and advocate, working with government at the federal, state, municipal, and community levels. In July 2011, Gretchen was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Colorado Health Benefit Exchange. Gretchen is a native of Colorado, a graduate of Colorado College, and holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine.
