Kimberly Rosales is originally from northern New Mexico and started her educational career at New Mexico Highlands University, where she studied Biology and competed on the Women’s Cross Country team. She transferred to the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then earned a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from UCI, where she studied nutrient transporter regulation as a means to kill cancer cells. Upon completion of her Ph.D., Kimberly obtained a Post Doctoral Fellow position at City of Hope, where she received a Post Doctoral Fellowship from the National Science foundation for her research on cancer cell metabolism. Throughout her scientific career, Kimberly has been an advocate for science outreach efforts, in particular to underrepresented and underprivileged populations. She continues her outreach efforts through the San Gabriel Valley Science Education Partnership between City of Hope and the Duarte Unified School District.
